Thame Remembers

Graves and Memorials

There are seven war memorials and memorial boards in Thame parish with over 190 names identified on them.

Indications are that 80% of the graves are in the UK, France, and Belgium but the remainder are spread far and wide, including Cyprus, Denmark, Egypt, Germany, Greece, India, Iraq, Italy, Libya, Malta, Singapore, Tanzania, and Tunisia plus ocean graves where the crew went down with their ships.

Where no grave is known then a wreath will be laid at the relevant memorial and a cross placed on a nearby grave to an unknown soldier.

We also aim to place wreaths and crosses on the sea above the site of a ship-wreck where our sailors went down.
